You should consider using a few more bullet points to increase the impact to the employer. It's the first impression a potential employer has of you. Remember that your CV is your marketing tool. I'd like to see your document more polished, something more fitting of your experience level. I found your design to be visually uneven. Sometimes you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but in the case of your CV, this just isn't true. I'll probably invest into LinkedIn eventually, but until now I haven't had a "career path" to speak of, so there's been no point networking in my field and putting myself out there for bigger and better. Use the appropriate tool for the job at hand, and voila. Job boards are a one-and-done thing sure you can keep your resume updated and search/apply for jobs, but that's not a networking tool. I think LinkedIn is extensively used by recruiters, whereas job search sites like Indeed and so on, are used by hiring managers to just post positions and find suitable candidates. It provides a sort of "vetting process" that you can share with recruiters as proof of your experience. It's good for people who want to break into mid-level/upper management, senior positions, executive positions, that sort of thing. LinkedIn is designed for the "long game", it's an online portfolio that you build over time. LinkedIn is about who you know and have references available that can provide real-time endorsements for who you are as an employee, your skills, your achievements, character references, and so on. There are certain job fields and jobs, that are not just about what you know, but who you know. If you don't want to network, or you have a limited network available, then you're going to find it very limited. You can also view company ratings provided by employees, and get an idea of what you're getting yourself into. Indeed and such job boards are resume & job search tools. Just like with any tool, you have to understand what it's used for, and then use it accordingly. The point of LinkedIn is to be as public as possible. I also have a personal situation that has necessitated keeping things as private as possible. the constant solicitation got on my nerves so I set my profile to private and never used their paid services. LinkedIn has never done anything for me except annoy me, TBH. I work in IT and found my job via Indeed.
